PM Modi Applauds Supreme Court’s Historic Verdict on Article 370

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Supreme Court’s ruling on the abrogation of Article 370 as “historic.” He emphasized that the decision constitutionally affirms Parliament’s stance, signifying a significant declaration of hope, progress, and unity for Jammu and Kashmir.

The Prime Minister affirmed his unwavering commitment to the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, assuring them that the government remains dedicated to realizing their aspirations. He emphasized the determination to ensure that the benefits of progress not only reach them but also extend to the most vulnerable and marginalized sections of society who faced challenges due to Article 370.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister hailed the Supreme Court’s verdict on Article 370, calling it historic and a constitutional validation of the Parliament’s 2019 decision. He emphasized the resounding declaration of hope, progress, and unity for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Expressing appreciation for the Court’s wisdom, Modi underscored its reinforcement of the essence of Indian unity. He assured the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh that the government’s commitment to fulfilling their dreams remains steadfast. The aim is to ensure progress benefits not only them but also reaches the most vulnerable and marginalized sections impacted by Article 370.

The remarks followed the Supreme Court’s Constitution bench upholding the abrogation of Article 370 and the division of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories. The bench also directed the Election Commission to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September 30, 2024.
